KING ARTHUR
King Arthur has been a force in the music industry since the early 60's. Actually before that, he did his very first record hop at 12 years old! He started on WCAM 1310 AM radio, Camden NJ. In the late 60's he managed some of the biggest groups in the Philadelphia area, one of the groups being The Destinations of “I Can’t Leave You” fame, recorded on his record label, Ando Records, He went on to be the area's first and most successful deejays with a mobile disc jockey company. In the 90's he re-established his radio career on WNJC 1360 AM in Washington Township NJ for 20 years. Currently he is on Cruisin’ 92.1 FM Radio, WVLT out of Vineland NJ on Sunday nights, Live, 9 to 11PM. Loves his “Doowop” and oldies, but can play all genres of music, from the 50s through to today’s music.
In the 90's he was one of the first to be LIVE streaming on an Internet Station know as Destination Doowop, founded by Yukon Jack. And currently the King can be heard on his latest internet station known as “Crown Sounds Radio." Playing the best oldies on the planet - 7 days a week, 24 hours a day. King still keeps the music of our era alive, Doowop, Oldies or Urban Group Harmony, and also Acapella, whichever you like to call it, every single day. He stays in touch with all the entertainers as much as possible, especially the ones from South Philadelphia and surrounding areas of Philly. King Arthur invites groups who would like to get their music played, to send him a cd or a package with a photo.
Still residing in the historic area of Philadelphia Pa, on top of Cedrones Flowers owned by his wife Janet aka "The Queen of Doowop" of more than 50 years, located at 8th and Lombard in Philly. As a footnote, Janet's Dad, Danny Cedrone is the original lead guitarist in Rock Around the Clock, Bill Haley and His Comets. He was inducted in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame 2012.
King Arthur was inducted into the National Rhythm and Blues Hall of Fame in 2023! Along with such greats like Clyde McPhatter, the Isley Brothers and Dee Dee Sharp, the King was honored for his life time of producing and promoting many memorable R&B artists and keeping their sounds alive on his daily radio show.
